Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for pragmatic cooperation among the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members in order to accelerate economic recovery.
Xi made the remarks in his speech at the SCO summit, delivered via video link on Tuesday.
Boosting the economy is a shared goal for SCO members, Xi said, and China is willing to work with all other members in this regard.
Xi mentioned globalization and expanding the total size of economies as examples of cooperation.
SCO members should stand against protectionism, unilateral sanctions overstretching the concept of national security, trade barriers and economic decoupling, Xi told the summit.
The benefits of development should be shared more fairly and to a greater extent by the people of the member countries, he added.
