The Israeli Defense Ministry (IDF) said in a statement on Wednesday that they had intercepted five rockets allegedly fired from the Gaza Strip.
Israel carried out air strikes on the Gaza Strip on Wednesday in response to the rockets, the army said.
"In response to the rockets launched earlier tonight, the IDF is currently striking in the Gaza Strip," the army said.
The strikes had hit a Hamas military site in northern Gaza but caused no injuries, according to a Palestinian security source.
