It's been the breeding season for Huangyu, or naked carp, a unique fish species inhabiting northwest China's Qinghai Lake. It once faced extinction due to overfishing, but through multiple protection measures, the number of carp in the lake has grown exponentially, reaching an overall weight of 114,100 tonnes, 44 times that two decades ago. While its natural hatching rate is quite low, artificial breeding has become the major way to sustain the species.
