On the night of July 7, 1937, Japanese troops stationed near Lugou Bridge (also known as Marco Polo Bridge) in the southwest of Beijing provoked Chinese troops stationed there, bombarding the area. The local Chinese troops fought back, marking the beginning of the all-out outbreak of China's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
To commemorate the 86th anniversary, the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression launches a special exhibition on this day. The exhibition features some of the museum's most important items and provides visitors with a better understanding of the war, as well as the hard-won peace that followed.
