Two Russian frigates arrived in Shanghai on July 5 for a seven-day visit. Led by Chinese escort vessels, the Russian fleet reached a military port in Shanghai at around 3:30 p.m. During their visit, the Chinese and Russian navies will hold activities, such as joint drills, professional and technical exchanges and basketball games.
The two frigates, Gromkiy and Sovershenny, are Russian-made multi-role light missile frigates with a length of 104.5 meters and a width of 13 meters. They both have 2,250 tonnes of displacement. It is the first time that the two frigates are visiting Shanghai. However, it is the seventh Russian naval fleet visit to Shanghai.
