At the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands Manasseh Sogavare will pay an official visit to China from July 9 to 15, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin announced on Thursday.
Sogavare visited China in October 2019, weeks after China and the Solomon Islands officially established diplomatic relations.
At a regular press briefing in Beijing, Wang said the two countries have seen their bilateral ties develop rapidly with fruitful results, benefiting the two peoples and promoting regional peace, stability and development.
The prime minister's upcoming visit will inject new momentum into the development of relations between China and the Pacific island country, he said.
China is ready to work with the Solomon Islands to take the visit as an opportunity to deepen political trust, expand pragmatic cooperation and strengthen people-to-people exchanges to take the relationship to a new level, said Wang.
During the visit, leaders of the two countries will have an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern, according to the spokesperson.
Sogavare will visit Beijing and the provinces of Jiangsu and Guangdong, said Wang.
