China's National Health Commission (NHC) has established expert groups on medical emergency responses to further leverage the role of national experts in supporting and guiding medical emergency work. This initiative aims to safeguard people's life safety and health, as stated in a release on Thursday.

The primary responsibilities of these expert teams will include providing policy advice and professional technical support for the development of national medical emergency response capacity and system. Additionally, they will offer on-site guidance and participate in medical emergencies and treatments when necessary.

Furthermore, the teams will be responsible for formulating norms and methods for medical emergency management, as well as undertaking other tasks assigned by the NHC. The teams consist of 22 disciplines, encompassing emergency medicine, intensive care medicine, orthopedics, and epidemiology.

The term of the teams will expire at the end of 2025, at which point the NHC will make appropriate adjustments to the team members.
