The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pledged to provide $15 million to help rehabilitate the West Bank Palestinian city of Jenin in the wake of an Israeli raid, the official news agency WAM reported on Thursday.

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan made the pledge during a phone call on Wednesday with Philippe Lazzarini, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the WAM said.

The call came after Jenin and its refugee camp were hit by the largest Israeli military raid in nearly two decades from Monday to Tuesday, in which at least 13 Palestinians and an Israeli soldier were killed. Israel said that the raid was targeting the infrastructure of Palestinian militants.

During the phone call, Sheikh Abdullah affirmed UAE's commitment to supporting UNRWA to overcome the challenges it faces and its mission to improve the conditions and lives of Palestinian refugees.

He also stressed UAE's support for all regional and international efforts to achieve an Israeli-Palestinian cease-fire, revive the Middle East peace process, and stop illegal practices that threaten the two-state solution.
