Japan's nuclear-contaminated water discharge plan has raised concerns among residents living in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), with people worried about their health and that of future generations.

According to the Federation of Restaurants and Related Trades in Hong Kong, Japanese restaurants have recently experienced a decline in business due to fewer customers. The HKSAR government has expressed concerns over safety to Japanese authorities on multiple occasions, and stated that it will ban seafood imports from Fukushima and nearby prefectures at once if Japan proceeds with the controversial plan.
