Uzbeks began to vote in the country's snap presidential election on July 9, with four candidates, including incumbent President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the ballot. It's the country's seventh general election since it achieved independence in the early 1990s.
Early voting was held from June 28 to July 5 for those who could not be at their place of residence on election day, according to the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan, and around 20 million Uzbeks are eligible to vote.
