Week-long protest at Canadian ports disrupts cargo shipments
00:48

The strike of dockworkers at more than 30 ports in British Columbia since July 1 has affected the shipment of about $3.5 billion worth of cargo. According to local media, about 7,400 workers have joined the protest. Several industry associations are calling on the federal government to take urgent action to end the strike as soon as possible. The port of Vancouver, which has been involved in the strike, is one of the key ports in Canada's Pacific Gateway supply chain, handling about 25 percent of Canada's total trade.
