Brunei opened a container shipping route between its sole deep-water port and a major Chinese port on the southern coast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Saturday, marking the first such route between the Southeast Asian country and China.
On Saturday afternoon, a container ship embarked on its first voyage along the route from Brunei's Muara Port, headed for the Beibu Gulf Port in Guangxi's Qinzhou City. The line is expected to become a new transport passage between the new land-sea corridor in China's western region and the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area.
