The UN Food and Agriculture Organization says it is studying the areas of the world that are especially vulnerable to El Niño. Zhang Chuanhong, an associate professor at China Agricultural University in Beijing, points out that infrastructure improvements, technology adaptation and policy support for farmers are required to mitigate the impact of El Niño.
