The China National Archaeological Work Conference was held in Jinan City, east Shandong Province, on July 11, 2023. Li Qun, vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, and Zhou Naixiang, the governor of Shandong Province, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Li said it is necessary to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and conscientiously implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech and remarks on cultural relics and archaeology at the Symposium on Cultural Inheritance and Development.

Li also emphasized that it is a great responsibility and a glorious mission to do a good job in archaeological work in the new era. The archaeologists of cultural relics should work toward the big pattern, big vision and big development of Chinese archaeology, striving to build the archaeology with prominent Chinese characteristics. It is necessary to achieve the high-quality development of Chinese archaeological disciplines, making greater contributions to inheriting traditional Chinese culture and building a modern civilization of the Chinese nation.

The conference comprehensively reviewed the achievements of China's archaeological work since the 13th Five-Year Plan, pointing out the general idea and goal of Chinese archaeological work in the new era. Representatives from the National Cultural Heritage Administration, cultural relics departments, archaeological units of various provinces and experts from universities attended the meeting.
