The latest archaeological excavations discovered at the Hengshui section of the Grand Canal, located in Hengshui, Hebei Province, were showcased at an Archaeological Symposium on July 8, 2023. These unearthed artifacts, including pottery shards and ceramic fragments from the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) dynasties provided compelling evidence of the ancient civilization that flourished along the Hengshui section of the Grand Canal.
Referred to as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Grand Canal holds the distinction of being the longest man-made waterway in the world.
