The Chang Jiang, or "Long River," is the official name for the Yangtze River in Mandarin Chinese. The Jiangsu section of the Chang Jiang, commonly referred to as the "Yangtze," spans over 400 kilometers, flowing through the eight cities of Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Yangzhou, Taizhou, Changzhou, Wuxi, Suzhou, and Nantong. When Western missionaries first encountered this section of the Chang Jiang, they began using the name "Yangtze River" to refer to the entire river. Since then, "Yangtze River" has become the widely accepted English name for the Chang Jiang.

This remarkable river nourishes one of the most economically developed areas along the southeast coast of China. Within the Jiangsu section of the Yangtze River, there is an abundance of cultural heritage, breathtaking natural landscapes, and the distinctive charm of each city. It offers a perfect opportunity to explore the ancient history and modern prosperity of China.
