Hao Ping, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Peking University Committee, said he will lead a delegation to China's Taiwan region on Saturday, a trip encouraged by former Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou when he was visiting mainland universities earlier this year.
The trip by Hao will last for eight days, and he will be joined by 36 representatives from the universities of Tsinghua, Peking, Fudan, Wuhan and Hunan.
It is the first such trip in over three years, Hao noted. He called on young people from both Taiwan and the mainland to promote exchanges and strengthen mutual understanding.
