Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, will attend the ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia from July 13 to 14, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin announced on Tuesday.

Amid the current global economic slowdown and geopolitical conflicts, the overall situation in East Asia remains stable, Wang said at a daily press briefing, adding that the regional economy continues to rebound and the process of regional economic integration continues to advance.

China has maintained development momentum with countries in the region, Wang said, adding that the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership is operating at a high level and friendly cooperation keeps deepening and expanding, which effectively drives East Asia cooperation in general.

China looks forward to building more consensus through the meetings to make political preparations for the leaders' meetings on East Asia Cooperation to be held this September, aiming to promote regional peace, stability and prosperity, he said.
