A Ministry of Commerce (MOC) investigation into trade barriers imposed by China's Taiwan region on mainland exports is well underway, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office said on Tuesday.

The MOC launched the probe in April at the request of mainland chambers of commerce, and has since invited Taiwan's chambers, manufacturers, importers and other relevant stakeholders to share their views on a voluntary basis, said Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, at a press conference.

Investigators have mailed questionnaires pertinent to the probe to 11 chambers of commerce and over 30 companies based in Taiwan, Chen said.
