On July 11, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced that the United States had rejoined UNESCO as a member. The United States has repeatedly broken the international agreement and withdrawn from the groups, leading to widespread dissatisfaction in the global community. According to an online survey released by CGTN for global netizens, nearly 90 percent believe the United States is damaging its international credibility.

The United States withdrew from UNESCO twice, in 1984 and 2017. Besides, since 2011, the United States has owed UNESCO approximately $612 million in dues and roughly $7.91 million to the World Heritage Fund, for a total of about $619 million in arrears.

According to the survey, 88.7 percent of respondents criticized the U.S. for lacking basic respect for international organizations and international rules. "This behavior of the United States is very disgraceful and sets a bad example for the rest of the world." one netizen observed. As many as 84 percent of the respondents shared the same view as this netizen.

In recent years, the United States has withdrawn from several international organizations and multilateral agreements and has repeatedly threatened to withdraw from the WTO. Furthermore, the United States frequently defaults on its membership fees to international organizations, putting significant pressure on the daily work of international organizations.

The United States' approach to applying international law in a selective and utilitarian way has aroused widespread doubts and dissatisfaction in the international community. According to the survey, 87.8 percent of respondents believe that U.S. behavior will only cause it to lose credibility with the international community. According to a netizen, "the U.S. intends to use these organizations to create contradictory conflicts."
