China Media Group (CMG) will send a team of 2,500 people to cover the reporting and broadcasting services of the Chengdu World University Games, CMG announced on Wednesday.

CMG will independently undertake the reporting and broadcasting services of the Summer World University Games, said CMG President Shen Haixiong.

The games will be an important platform to showcase CMG's broadcasting services and technological innovation while strengthening its capabilities in reporting world-class sports games, he said.

Specifically, a team of 456 people will be dispatched to Chengdu in advance to prepare for the reporting service. Over 2,000 people will arrive later.

For the first time, CMG will work as the main broadcasting agency, providing full 4K high-quality broadcasting during the games.

CMG will also utilize the world's leading 8K technology to produce public signals for the opening and closing ceremonies along with broadcasting sports competitions such as tennis and athletics.

The games will be broadcast in a comprehensive way via multiple television and audio channels via CMG.

The 31st Summer World University Games will be held in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, featuring 269 events across 18 sports from July 28 to August 8, 2023.
