The Democratic People's Republic of Korea fired a long-range ballistic missile eastward on Wednesday, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing the Republic of Korea's (ROK) military.
The ROK's Joint Chiefs of Staff said it detected the launch from an area in or around Pyongyang at about 10 a.m., and the missile, fired at a lofted angle, flew around 1,000 kilometers before falling into the water.
Tokyo also confirmed the launch, with Japan's defense ministry saying that the missile appeared to have been ICBM-class, referring to an intercontinental ballistic missile.
