The United Nations Security Council held a meeting on July 11 at the request of the Russian delegation to discuss the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. Two independent journalists invited by the Russian delegation briefed the Security Council at the meeting. Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the UN, said that a responsible attitude towards regional security and development is necessary to conduct an independent and professional investigation into the incidents, and the investigation must ensure that the conclusions are objective, fair, authoritative, and able to withstand historical scrutiny.
