Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng on Wednesday met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense Ely Ratner upon invitation.
Xie told Ratner that a sound and stable China-U.S. relationship is in the common interest of the two countries.
Stating China's position on the relations between the two countries and the two militaries, Xie urged the U.S. side to remove obstacles and manage differences with concrete actions, prudently handle important and sensitive issues such as the Taiwan question in accordance with the principles enshrined in the three China-U.S. joint communiques, and work with China in the same direction to gradually bring the state-to-state and military-to-military relations back to the right track.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
