A series of dramatic rescue operations have taken place across China following bouts of torrential rainfall, with motorists being saved from submerged vehicles and residents evacuated from flooded neighborhoods. Torrential rain wreaked havoc across north China's Shanxi Province, with rescuers called into action following a spate of emergency calls. Cars were caught in floods and people were trapped inside their homes. Flash floods triggered by heavy rain also hit Pingyi County of east China's Shandong Province. With the help of rescue ropes, firefighters reached trapped villagers and helped them put on life jackets. People were evacuated from their homes and reunited with their families.
