Namtso, also known as "Heavenly Lake," is the second-largest lake in Xizang. It's renowned for its abundant birdlife, including the bar-headed goose, ruddy shelduck, and common tern.

Recently, CGTN reporters captured a sighting of a flock of Eurasian coots foraging on the lake. These distinctive birds are characterized by their black bodies, white bills, and prominent white frontal shields on their foreheads. In China, they are classified as second-class protected species and fall under the category of "Three Haves" protected animals — wildlife species of significant ecological, scientific and social value.
