China is the biggest victim of cyberattacks, and the United States should not "put labels on China indiscriminately," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Friday.

At a regular press briefing, the spokesperson referred to the meeting on Thursday between Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

During the meeting, the U.S. side mentioned the issue of hacking of U.S. government cyber systems, and Blinken indicated that it would take appropriate action to pursue responsibility.

Noting that Wang Yi had made clear China's principled position on cybersecurity, the spokesperson said that the Chinese government departments are subjected to massive cyberattacks almost every day, most of which originate from the United States.

During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on the fentanyl issue, and Blinken emphasized the importance of the two sides working together to stop the flow of synthetic drugs, particularly fentanyl and its precursors, into the United States.

The spokesperson said Director Wang Yi had pointed out that China has the most resolute anti-drug attitude and the most thorough policy in the world, as well as one of the best records.

China made a decision a few years ago to list fentanyl as a whole category, and so far no second country has done what China has done, and the American domestic efforts to list fentanyl as a whole category have been seriously hampered, the spokesperson said.

However, the U.S. smeared and denigrated China on the issue of fentanyl, shifted the blame and arrested Chinese citizens, the spokesperson reiterated.

China hopes that the United States will resolve the issue in an equal, respectful and cooperative manner and lift the sanctions against Chinese organizations engaged in anti-drug work as soon as possible, so as to remove obstacles to dialogue and cooperation between the two sides, he said.
