02:23

Dubbed the "Eighth Wonder" of the ancient world, the Zeng Houyi Chime Bells is an ancient Chinese musical instrument with a history of more than 2,400 years. In 1978, it was unearthed in Suizhou City, central China's Hubei Province. The excavation of the chime bells from the Tomb of  Marquis Yi of Zeng State not only shows the world the superb bronze casting skills of ancient China, but also represents the extremely high achievements of China's pre-Qin ritual and music civilization. The full set of chimes has 7 notes and 12 semitones, which is exactly the same as the concept of the 12 well-tempered system, and almost 2,000 years before the appearance of European 12 well-tempered keyboard instruments.
