A Chinese girls' Under-12 football team from Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County, south China's Hainan Province, will attend the Gothia Cup 2023 in Sweden.

Without losing a match, the Qiongzhong U12 football team were the champions of the Greater Bay Area Football Tournament in April, an event consisting of 20 girls' teams from across China. With their perfect winning record, Qiongzhong U12 football team secured their spot in the Gothia Cup, the world's largest and arguably most international teenagers' football tournament, which was launched in 1975.

This year, a total of 1,893 teams from 71 countries and regions will participate in the tournament scheduled to take place from July 16 to 22 in Sweden's Gothenburg, with players between the ages of 11 and 18.

The Chinese team will be in a group with teams from Sweden, Germany and the United States.

"We face a lot of challenges in this tournament, but the most important thing for us is to dare to face it and overcome the difficulties. We stick together through thick and thin and never give up," said Chen Qiaocui, the manager of the team.
