A magnitude-7.2 earthquake struck off the Alaskan peninsula at a depth of 32.6 kilometers late Saturday local time, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

A tsunami warning was issued and then reduced to an advisory for south Alaska and the Alaskan peninsula, according to the U.S. Tsunami Warning Center.
