Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will join the Tennessee Titans on a two-year contract, ESPN reported on Sunday. His salary for the first year is worth up to $15 million with incentives.
"I always loved having haters and doubters but I appreciate it even more now. Titan up!!" Hopkins posted on Twitter on Sunday. He parted ways with the Arizona Cardinals in late May as the team released him to get rid of his $30.75 million salary cap hit in 2023.
After that, Hopkins talked to a lot of teams including the New England Patriots and the Cleveland Browns before deciding to continue his career at Nissan Stadium.
Injuries and suspension due to violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drugs policy held Hopkins back last season. He made nine appearances for the Cardinals in 2022 and produced 717 yards plus three touchdowns. However, when Hopkins focused on the field completely, he is one of the best in the wide receiver position, getting 1,000+ yards in six seasons.

The Titans were one of the worst receiving teams in the league last season, ranking 29th of all 32 teams in both total receptions (285) and receiving yards (3,227). Their wide receiver group had a total of two 100-yard receiving games. Hopkins' arrival will be of great help to the team on this front.
The 31-year-old will see some familiar faces in the Titans as well. The team's head coach Mike Vrabel was the linebackers coach and later the defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans between 2014 and 2017. Hopkins was voted to two of his five career Pro Bowls in 2015 and 2017.
The Titans' offensive coordinator Tim Kelly was in the same position for the Texans in 2019. Hopkins posted 104 catches, 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns for the team in the season.
The Titans failed to reach the playoffs last season with a 7-10 record. With Hopkins on their roster together with quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry, the team will want to change that with more comprehensive offense in the new season.
