230,000 evacuated in China's Guangdong as tropical storm Talim moves towards neighboring Guangxi

Authorities in southern China have heightened emergency preparedness after Typhoon Talim hit the coastal city of Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province on the evening of July 17. Some 230,000 people in Guangdong Province have been evacuated as local authorities ordered the closure of tourist spots and called back fishing vessels. The storm is expected to also hit coastal cities of neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. 

Local authorities have upgraded emergency response to the second-highest level and ordered the suspension of schools and production.
