China win mixed team diving gold at World Aquatics Championships

China won the mixed team diving gold medal in the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan on Tuesday, continuing to bag all eight diving golds in the tournament.

Si Yajie, Zheng Jiuyuan, Zhang Minjie and Bai Yuming competed for China on Tuesday afternoon and secured the victory with a total score of 489.65 points.

Si finished China's first dive in the women's 3-meter springboard with 75.95 points to rank No. 1. None of the seven judges rated her performance below 8.0 points.

Zheng was the second to dive for China in the men's 3-meter springboard, and he finished 5337D at the degree of difficulty (DD) of 3.5 with 84 points. Though Shixin Li of Australia performed the best in this round, China led in total score.

Si and Bai Yuming paired in the mixed 3-meter springboard in the second round. The two finished 205B at the DD of 3.0 with a leading 78 points, further solidifying China's lead.

As the competition moved to the 10-meter platform from the third round, Zhang Minjie and Bai participated in the women's and the men's fives for China. Zhang got 75.2 points with 6243D at the DD of 3.2 before Bai added 90.10 points with 307C at 3.4. Both got the second-best scores of all athletes.

Zhang and Bai paired in the final round of the mixed 10-meter platform. Their excellent work completing 407C at 3.2 was rated 86.4 points, which beat every other pair and sealed the deal for China.

Mexico took home the silver medal in the event. The bronze went to Germany.
