The National People's Congress of China is willing to work with the Parliament of Algeria to enhance exchanges and cooperation at all levels and provide better legal protection for practical bilateral cooperation, abiding by the consensus reached by the two heads of state, China's top legislator Zhao Leji said on Wednesday.
Zhao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, made the remarks while meeting with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in Beijing.
He congratulated Algeria on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council during 2024-2025 and expressed China's willingness to work hand in hand with the Algerian side to build an open global economy and push forward the development of the global governance system in a more just and rational direction.
Tebboune said Algeria and China have always firmly supported each other. Algeria admires the great achievements made by the Chinese people and is willing to learn from China's experience and deepen cooperation in various fields to bring tangible benefits for the people of the two countries, he said.
Tebboune is currently on a state visit to China, which started on Monday.
