China's Shenzhou-16 astronauts will conduct extravehicular activities (EVAs) in the next few days, the China Manned Space Agency announced on Wednesday.
As of July 19, the trio had been working at China Space Station for 51 days, or a third of their planned mission.
The crew, which consists of commander Jing Haipeng, flight engineer Zhu Yangzhu and the country's first-ever payload specialist Gui Haichao, have completed various tasks and scientific experiments so far, the agency said.
In less than two months, the crew had helped China Space Station achieve many new firsts, including a radiation biological exposure experiment outside the Mengtian lab module last month.
The crew had also installed and replenished the station's first electric propulsion system, which would be crucial for the long-term safe and stable operation of the space station.
The agency said the three taikonauts are in good health and ready for extravehicular activities.
