China urged the United States to stop making groundless accusations, smearing other countries for political purposes, and conducting cyber attacks on other countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday.
Mao made the remarks in response to a question about the U.S. slandering China for cyber activities, at a daily press briefing.
"China is a victim of cyber attacks and we firmly oppose any form of cyber attacks," Mao said, adding that the U.S. has long conducted indiscriminate and large-scale cyber attacks on countries around the world and the U.S. Cyber Command blatantly listed key infrastructure in other countries as legitimate targets for its cyber attacks, which is worrying.
Noting that cyber security is a global challenge that requires cooperation from the international community, Mao said the U.S. should stop its groundless accusations on other countries, and instead strengthen international cooperation to maintain cyber security.
