2023 marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Algeria. The two countries enjoy a profound traditional friendship. China was the first non-Arab country to recognize the interim government of Algeria, and Algeria made outstanding contributions to restoring China's lawful seat in the United Nations. In 2014, Algeria established a comprehensive strategic partnership with China, becoming the first Arab country to do so. CGTN spoke with several Algerians about Chinese influence in their daily lives and their expectations for future cooperation between the two countries. One resident noted that a street in the El Mouradia locality of Algiers is named after Beijing, China, and has a long history. Another said he had worked with many Chinese doctors who had been working in Algeria since independence.
