An exhibition featuring the works of Chinese painting master Xu Beihong is currently on display at the Xu Beihong Memorial Museum in Beijing. In 1939, Xu Beihong brought over a thousand of his own works and collections to hold exhibitions in places like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Ipoh. All the proceeds from these exhibitions were donated to wartime refugees and support the children of fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives for their country.

This exhibition showcases over 70 artworks created by Xu Beihong during his time in Nanyang – a concept used one hundred years ago which included the Malay Islands, the Philippine Islands, Indonesia, the coastal areas of the Indo-China Peninsula and the Malay Peninsula. It unveils the fascinating stories of his experiences during the 1930s and 1940s. The exhibition will run until August 16, 2023.
