The 31st World University Games in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, is only a week away from taking place. Guo Hanyu, who will compete in the women's doubles tennis event on behalf of China, feels no pressure and wants to show the best of herself.

Wang is the only one of the eight Chinese female tennis players that participated in the Universiade before. She paired with Ye Qiuyu to win the women's doubles gold in Napoli, Italy, in 2019. Playing in Chengdu as the reigning champion can place Guo under a lot of pressure, but she won't let that hold her back.

"My goal is definitely to win the gold medal again, to make my country and my university proud," Guo told China Media Group (CMG). She wants to focus on working for every point once she steps on to the court. "A good serve sets a good start for scoring a point and grants me the initiative in the match," she added.

Guo revealed that she and the other three players who will participate in the women's doubles event at the Chengdu Universiade have been very familiar with each other after playing together with and against each other for years in various competitions. They all look forward to the coming matches with great confidence.

The Chinese women's basketball team will play their first game in Chengdu on the opening day of the World University Games. As the team's ace, Liu Yutong can't wait any longer to compete against the elite opponents from the rest of the world.

Having played three years for the Beijing Normal University, Liu led the team to win three national titles in a row. With her power advantage, Liu also attacks with skillful footwork, making her unstoppable on the offensive end.

Liu suffered ankle fracture in her senior year and spent a long time trying to recover. With the help of her coach and rehabilitation, she has fully recovered and is ready for the Chengdu Universiade.

"We are all looking forward to the Games," Liu told CMG. "I hope everyone can enjoy the competition and have fun in Chengdu."
