At least 17 people have been killed and 23 others injured in a road accident in Jhalokati District, about 200 kilometers south of Dhaka in Bangladesh, local media reported on Saturday.
The accident took place at around 10:00 a.m. local time when a bus plunged into a roadside pond.
It was reported that at least eight women and three children were among the deceased.
Local police said the death toll might rise as a rescue operation continues.
It was not immediately clear what caused the accident.
