Some 20,000 British railway employees have called for a new strike in England and Wales in protest against low wages, contractual changes and the closure of ticket offices.
The association of train operating companies, Rail Delivery Group (RDG), said the various strikes, organized by the British railway unions since June 2022, have cost the sector around 620 million pounds ($797 million).
According to media reports, high inflation is the underlying cause of large-scale strikes in the UK. British railway workers are scheduled to strike again on July 29.
