Thousands moved to safety as wildfires rage on Greek island of Rhodes

A large wildfire burned on the Greek island of Rhodes for a fifth consecutive day. The authorities have moved around 30,000 people threatened by wildfires to safety, including 2,000 who had to be ferried off beaches.
In previous days, the wildfire was confined to the island's mountainous center, but aided by winds, very high temperatures and dry conditions, it spread toward the coast on the island's central-eastern side on Saturday.
