At least one person was killed and 22 others were injured as Russia launched an overnight attack on port city of Odesa, Ukrainian government said Sunday.
"A man born in 1974 died as a result of night shelling. 22 people were injured. Among them are 4 children -- 11, 12 years old and two 17-year-olds," the National Police of Ukraine said on Telegram messaging app.
It said several civil infrastructure objects, high-rise and private residential buildings and citizens' cars were damaged and destroyed during the attack.
The Transfiguration Cathedral, located in the historic center of Odesa, protected by UNESCO, was also destroyed.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday vowed to take retaliation against Russia. "They will feel this retaliation," he wrote on Telegram.
