Countries of the Global South should work together to take responsibility for world peace and common development, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday.
Noting that China put forward proposals on strengthening Global South cooperation at the 13th Meeting of BRICS National Security Advisers and High Representatives on National Security, Mao said China is an ex-officio member of the Global South and will always be a member of the big family of developing countries.
She said senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi has emphasized that independence is the defining political feature of the Global South countries, adding that development and revitalization are their historical mission, and fairness and justice are their common proposition.
Mao said China is willing to work with other emerging markets and developing countries to advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.
