On July 26, A towering construction crane caught fire on the West Side of Manhattan, losing its long arm that crashed into a nearby building, dangled and plummeted to the street as people ran for their lives on the sidewalk below. Four people were hurt, but no one died, according to New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Within minutes, firefighters were shooting water at the blaze from a balcony of an adjacent building. Authorities said they would probe the structural integrity of the under-construction building.
