China will send over 530 participants, including some 460 athletes, managing directors and coaches from all 21 events and more than 70 officials, to the parade at the opening ceremony of the 31st World University Games in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Friday evening.
Guo Hanyu from Southwest University and Hu Zhenzhuo from Tsinghua University will bear the flag for China at the ceremony.
Guo will compete in the women's doubles tennis event at the Chengdu Universiade. She paired with Ye Qiuyu to win the women's doubles gold in Napoli, Italy, in 2019. "My goal is definitely to win the gold medal again, to make my country and my university proud," Guo told China Media Group (CMG). She wants to focus on working for every point once she steps on to the court. "A good serve sets a good start for scoring a point and grants me the initiative in the match," she added.
