The 31st summer edition of the FISU World University Games opened on July 28 in Chengdu, the capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province. The games will bring young athletes together from all over the globe, fostering international cooperation, and providing a platform for the athletes to showcase their talents while pursuing their dreams. This year's grand opening ceremony was themed "chasing your dreams in Chengdu."
A splendid fireworks show brightened the night sky of the host city Chengdu, as part of the celebration for the opening.
