DPP, U.S. military collusion turning Taiwan into ammunition depot: spokesperson

Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities' attempts to intensify military collusion with the United States, either seeking arms sales or military aid, are turning the island into a powder keg and ammunition depot which will only aggravate the crisis in the Taiwan Straits.

State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Chen Binhua made the comment on Saturday after Washington unveiled a Taiwan weapons aid package worth up to $345 million on Friday.

"Our stance of resolutely opposing the United States selling weapons to China's Taiwan region has been always clear and consistent," Chen said, adding that young people will only be cannon fodder should the DPP authorities continue a separatist stance.

The mainland is resolute in resolving the Taiwan question and realizing China's complete reunification no matter how much arms Taiwan's DPP authorities and separatist forces purchase from the U.S. at the cost of tax payers' money on the island, Chen said.
