Asian athletes dominated the Wushu stage, securing all 17 gold medals on the first competition day at the 31st International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Saturday.
The Wushu competition, which runs until l August 3, consists of Nanquan, Changquan, Taijiquan, Gunshu, Daoshu, Taijijian, Jianshu, Qiangshu, Nandao and Sanda events.
Being one of the three optional sports in Chengdu, Wushu is making its second appearance at the Universiade after its debut in 2017.
Cao Maoyuan from Chengdu Sport University won the first gold medal at the Chengdu Universiade with a victory in the men's Nanquan event.
