In Yongren County of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, local people of the Yi ethnic group have been staging a traditional fashion show for over 1,300 years. In the deep mountains, "Saizhuang Jie," a folk "costume competition festival," is the time when Yi people wear their colorful, traditional hand-embroidered clothes – and indulge in singing and dancing along with the melodies of the lusheng and the four-stringed zither.
